Measurement of global iron load (I) and brain volume (II). Ia, Ib, and Ic show the brain selected in quantitative susceptibility maps in axial, coronal, and sagittal views, respectively. Image Id shows the iron load (vertical axis) in 130 slices (horizontal axis) of one subject. The global iron load for each subject was the sum of the iron concentration in the 130 slices. Images IIa, IIb, and IIc show the brain selected in three-dimensional fluid-attenuation inversion recovery series to measure the brain volume. The results of volume analysis for each subject are the mean, sum, standard deviation, size, and count as shown in IId. The sum was the volume of the brain included in the final analysis
