Head dual-energy computed tomography scan shows a focal hyperattenuation in the pons classified as indeterminate at standard grayscale series (a). This 80-year-old patient with a history of hypertension presented to the emergency department with altered mental status. On the calcium-overlay image (b), the hyperattenuation focus remains visible, while it is not apparent on the virtual non-calcium image (c), suggestive for parenchymal calcification. The finding was confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging. From Hu et al. [17]
