Compression thickness dependence (CC direction) of surface dose (Kair = air kerma = outside dose) at the position of the thyroid gland in patients. The values for air kerma are given for one CC view and one ML view. Tube voltage and tube current × time have been regulated by the automatic exposure control in the range of 26–32 kV and 36–237 mAs, respectively. The blue solid line is an exponential fit to the blue dots: Kair = 52.87μGy ⋅ exp(0.2194cm−1 ⋅ Compression).
